Shopping in Beautiful Molokai

Molokai is Hawaii’s “friendly island” where shopping is done in charming family run stores, quaint shops filled with vibrant island wear and local markets offering fresh produce and one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs. While there are no mega malls or huge shopping centers on the island, Molokai provides a variety of unique shopping experiences. From Kaunakakai, Molokai’s main shopping area to the shops in Kualapuu and Maunaloa visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of the island along with plenty of opportunities to find great gifts and souvenirs to take home.

Kaunakakai is Moloklai’s main city and is the home to most of the island’s most popular attractions, restaurants and shops. Another favorite shopping spot in Molokai is the small village of Kualapuu where many products are created by local residents. Just a short drive from downtown Kaunakakai, Kualapuu is a tiny settlement that offers an assortment of shops an attractions including Coffees of Hawaii. This coffee plantation offers premium Hawaiian coffees that have been plantation grown, cultivated and harvested. Take a self guided tour of the plantation or enjoy a relaxed mule drawn wagon tour and the kids will love an adventurous hike through the coffee fields. Before leaving stop into the Plantation Gift Shop which offers a variety of original artwork, hand crafted souvenirs and plenty of Hawaiian coffee to take home and enjoy long after your Molokai vacation.

On the west end of Molokai is the pleasant town of Maunaloa. This desert like town offers plenty of sightseeing, fun and adventure at The Molokia Ranch and a variety of shops that include the Big Wind Kite Factory. For a handmade kite or windsock that has been created in Molokai head to the Big Wind Kite Factory. Full of colorful and creative kites, this friendly store gives you free kite flying lessons, will direct you to the best flying spots on the island and will ship your purchases home for you so you can share an authentic Molokai kite with friends and family.

With its traditional Hawaiian culture, unforgettable attractions and one-of-a-kind shopping experiences Molokai is one of Hawaii’s most visited islands. Enjoy conversations with locals in friendly mom and pop establishments, take home some authentic Aloha shirts and combine your shopping adventures with some tropical sightseeing.
