To do list before shipping car or vehicle to Hawaii

 

    • Keep fuel to the minimum

Gasoline being flammable, your should leave the fuel only to the extent that it is able to driven to nearest filling station at the destination. In any case, it should not be more the one-fourth of its full capacity. Vehicles with propane tanks and driven with diesel fuel require special handling for which you must contact the shipping company in advance.

    • Don’t Pack Anything in Your Car – You should not keep any personal items, luggage or boxes inside the passenger area or trunk while shipping the car. However, child car seat and spare tire with jack are considered to be parts of the vehicle, so they can be shipped.

    • No Firearms or Fire Extinguishers.
      No firearms, ammunition or fire extinguishers may be shipped in a vehicle.

    • Disconnec the Alarm Systems.
      Vehicle alarm systems must be disconnected before delivering the cat for shipment to the shipping compamy.

    • Condition of the car.
      Your vehicle must be in proper operating condition such as having inflated tires, fully operational brakes, transmission and steering. Your car may be inspected at the time of the delivery to the shipping company. Cars, not in safe operating condition may  not be accepted for shipment.

    • Required Ground Clearance.
      All vehicles must have sufficient ground clearance in order to be shipped. For further information, you may contact the shipping company in advance.


 
You will have to make your own arrangements for delivering the car to the shipping company at the time to dispatching it for shipment and also to make arrangements for getting its delivery at the destination at your own cost. If this is done by the shipping company, you may be charged for that.

You will have to take delivery of your car within a specified period at the destination point (3 to 7 days – depending upon the company) after the ship delivers it at the destination port. After that specified time, it is placed in the warehouse of the company and you may have to shell out the storage fees.
